Otto Carius WWII German Tank Ace Limited Edition.
Otto Carius (27/5/1922–24/1/2015) was a German tank commander who served in World War II. He is considered one of the most successful tank aces of the war, with claims of destroying over 150 opposing tanks. Carius fought on both the Eastern and Western Fronts, and was awarded the Knight's Cross with Oak Leaves for bravery and leadership.
Born in Zweibrücken, Germany, in 1922, Carius joined the Wehrmacht in 1940. He was sent to the Eastern Front in 1941, gaining a reputation for skill and daring. In 1943 he was transferred to the Western Front, where he continued to be a highly effective tank commander.
Carius was wounded several times during the war but always returned to duty. He was eventually captured by American forces in May 1945. He was released from captivity in 1948 and returned to Germany.
After the war, Carius worked as a pharmacist. He died in Herschweiler-Pettersheim, Germany, in 2015.
