The Messerschmitt Bf 109E and Junkers Ju 87B Stuka were key Luftwaffe aircraft during the early years of World War II, including the Battle of Britain (1940).

The Messerschmitt Bf 109E ("Emil") was a fast and agile fighter, powered by a Daimler-Benz DB 601 engine (1,100 hp), with a top speed of 570 km/h. It was armed with two 7.92mm MG 17 machine guns and two 20mm MG FF cannons, making it a formidable adversary against RAF Spitfires and Hurricanes.

Despite its speed and firepower, it had limited range and was heavily reliant on airfields in occupied France.

The Junkers Ju 87B Stuka was a dive bomber known for its distinctive gull wings and wailing sirens (Jericho Trumpets), which struck fear into enemies. Powered by a Junkers Jumo 211D engine (1,200 hp), it had a top speed of 390 km/h. It carried up to 1,000 kg of bombs and was highly accurate in dive-bombing attacks.

However, it was slow, poorly armed (one 7.92mm MG 17 forward, one MG 15 rearward), and vulnerable to enemy fighters, leading to heavy losses during the Battle of Britain.

Both aircraft played a vital role in Blitzkrieg tactics, with the Bf 109E providing air superiority and the Ju 87B delivering devastating precision strikes.
