The Semovente M40 da 75/18 was an Italian self-propelled gun developed during World War II.
Built on the chassis of the M13/40 medium tank, it was armed with a 75mm howitzer mounted in a casemate-style superstructure.
Designed to provide mobile fire support and anti-tank capabilities, the M40 was relatively compact and maneuverable.
While its armor was light and it lacked a rotating turret, the 75mm gun proved effective against Allied armor and in infantry support roles.
The Semovente M40 da 75/18 became one of Italy's most successful armored vehicles, seeing action in North Africa and on the Eastern Front.
