The Junkers Ju 87D-1, known as the 'Stuka', was a dive bomber variant deployed by the Luftwaffe during World War II, including in the North African campaign (1941–1943).

The D-1 variant featured upgrades like a more powerful Jumo 211J engine, improved armor, and an increased payload capacity of up to 1,800 kg of bombs, enhancing its effectiveness in the harsh desert environment.

Its distinctive gull wings and Jericho-Trompete sirens struck fear into Allied ground forces, while its pinpoint dive-bombing accuracy made it a key asset for disrupting enemy supply lines and armored formations.

However, the Stuka's slow speed and limited maneuverability made it vulnerable to Allied fighters, requiring strong fighter escorts.

Despite these challenges, the Ju 87D-1 played a significant role in supporting Rommel's Afrika Korps, delivering precise and devastating air support in the North African desert battles.
