The Hotchkiss H38 was a French light tank used during the early stages of World War II.
It was an upgraded version of the earlier H35, designed with improved speed and mobility, featuring a more powerful 78-horsepower engine.
The tank was equipped with the SA18 37mm cannon, which was a short-barreled gun primarily suited for infantry support and engaging lightly armored targets.
While the SA18 was adequate against soft targets, it struggled against more heavily armored vehicles.
The H38's armor ranged from 12 to 40mm, providing reasonable protection for its time.
Despite its limitations, the H38 played a role in the defense of France during the German invasion in 1940.
