The Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat Late was a carrier-based fighter aircraft developed by the United States during World War II.
It was an improved version of the F6F Hellcat series and was introduced in 1944.
The F6F-5 Late variant featured several enhancements over its predecessors, including a more powerful engine, improved cockpit visibility, and strengthened wings for increased durability.
It had a maximum speed of around 610 km/h and a range of about 1,400 km.
The aircraft was known for its heavy armament, which included six .50 calibre machine guns and the ability to carry rockets and bombs.
The Hellcat Late played a significant role in the Pacific Theater of World War II, where it was used extensively in carrier-based operations against the Japanese Navy.
It was credited with shooting down over 5,000 enemy aircraft, making it one of the most successful fighter aircraft of the war.
