The Hawker Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc was a navalized variant of the iconic Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft, specifically adapted for operation from aircraft carriers during World War II.
Equipped with an arrester hook and strengthened undercarriage to facilitate deck landings, the Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc played a vital role in providing air defense for convoys and naval task forces.
Powered by a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, it possessed excellent maneuverability and performance, making it well-suited for combat operations over the sea.
Armed with a combination of 20mm Hispano cannons and .303 Browning machine guns, the Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc was effective against both enemy aircraft and surface targets.
Its versatility allowed it to undertake various missions, including convoy protection, fleet defense, and ground attack.
Despite the challenges of carrier-based operations, the Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc demonstrated its reliability and effectiveness in defending Allied shipping and supporting naval operations throughout the war.
Its service proved invaluable in maintaining control of the seas and securing vital supply lines.
