Airfix 1/72 PZL LIM-5 # 03092
Other Warsaw Pact nations coveted the MiG 17 as one of the most effective postwar Soviet jet fighter designs, eager to strengthen their own airspace defensive capabilities.
In 1955, Poland was granted a licence to manufacture the plane, and over the next five years, roughly 477 planes were produced for both Polish Air Force service and export sales.
The MiG-17s constructed in Poland were known as the Lim-5, which roughly translates to 'Licence built aircraft No.5'.
These aircraft, in the hands of a good pilot, might nonetheless pose a challenge to their Western counterparts.
